Where will we be in five years? Nowhere, if we aren’t moving forward. Shift Sprint Press is an independent literary press dedicated to prose which runs towards the future: speculative manifestos, literary fiction on contemporary culture and technology, old ideas brought to dashing new heights. We are looking for writers who cannot be contained or defined, and whose words leave the page in a cloud of dust while clinging to our brains like a sticky key.

About SSP:

Shift Sprint Press was developed as a part of my Independent Literary Publishing class at the Chatham MFA Program. My goal is to publish chapbooks of literary and speculative fiction.

Will Roth

Unimaginable Little Things

What does it mean to be a working artist? Unimaginable Little Things, Will Roth’s debut chapbook of speculative short fiction, paints brilliant portraits of creators in the confines of capitalism. From poetry readings to farmers’ markets to the bottom of the ocean, these stories take us places near and far, foreign and familiar, and ask us to place ourselves within futures that very well may be our own.

Will Roth is a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, where he studies English Writing and Secondary English Education. He presented at the 2025 and 2026 National English Honors Society Conventions, and has published short fiction and poetry in the Pitt News, Forbes & Fifth, Eastern Sea Bards, Moonstone Art, Silent Spark Press, and Bridge Ink. He is passionate about mundanity and made-up words.
